Nirvana Nevermind TV Commercial

Monty Films and SquareZero created this spot for the 20th anniversary re-launch of Nirvana’s Nevermind album. Directed by Stuart Fryer and George Cheng, the set design looked to emulate the iconic imagery from the 90’s. Footage of the band was then composited into various elements on the desk. George set up and shot the desk at SquareZero's studio in Shoreditch. All the props were created, adapted and sourced during the week before shooting. The commercial went live with the album re-release at the end of September.

Formula One themed hologram

Squarezero produced another attention grabbing holographic Musion3d sequence in February. Colt is a principle European information delivery platform, delivering IT managed services. The graphics highlighted the Formula One attributes of speed, performance, teamwork etc in direct association with the Colt brand. The sequence featured a glass-like Formula One car, engine, components, chequered flag and pitstop crew. The sequence was made for events company Icon and designed by SquareZero's Najma Bhatti. Icon is a global leader in branding implementation and has played a pivotal role in the scoping, design application, preparation and installation of Colt’s new identity across Europe and India. 3d Transport system planning

Leading transport consultants for city planning Steer Davies Gleave (SDG),were hired by the Canadian city of Hamilton to produce a design and feasibility study for a light-rail transit tram line. SDG required SquareZero's Jonson Jewell to create a 3d simulation of the Hamilton streets as they would look with the tram system in place. As well as the tram itself pedestrian crossings and re-routed traffic had to be illustrated in detail. The animation was rendered in Maya and composited using Nuke. See the animation here.

Mr Snuffles on the Underground

Sarah Klan one of our talented animators has been selected to show a short piece of her work across London's underground stations in the Smile for London campaign. The creative intermissions show on selected stations between 17th and 28th January. The idea is to to beat the January blues with a showcase of film, art and animation. The films will be displayed on digital platform screens across the stations weekday mornings and evenings during the rush hour commute. The Mr Snuffles film can be seen here on Vimeo.

Holographic ballerina wins MAMA award

Musion's MAMA awards were held at the University of Westminster last Saturday and SquareZero won the prize for best corporate event. The holographic dancer was filmed for the Yota Launch of Mikhailovsky's Swan Lake in London earlier this year.  The visual effects included having the dancer turn into a glass swan and then into a flurry of butterflies. The prima ballerina in her white costume made a very effective subject for the Pepper's Ghost technique of stage illusion. View the movie here.
